Meeting Minutes

Summary:
We have begun the club's meetings! Today, we discussed an overall plan for the Tesla Coil Club, including construction. We looked at various construction plans of tesla coils so that we can understand how it works, as well as schematics. It was decided that we would make our own capaciters using salt water, bottles, tin foil, wire, and oil. The group seemed quite excited about this.

The general feeling was that we should figure out what shape of bottle and what level of salt in the water is very important, since these capacitors will manage the high-voltage input that will only be increased by the coils. We have also read about how the tesla coil might damage a power system, which can be prevented by a "radio frequency filter", of which none of us were confident enough in to explain to the others. We have decided that this should be researched alongside the capacitor since it can prevent damage to nearby electronics and power systems.

Notes:
  • Power Supply: AC
